How to Search the Jefferson County Inmate Roster
The Sheriff's inmate lookup at jeffcosheriffco.gov/jail/inmate-lookup is the official tool. It runs in any browser. No login is required. The form accepts one of three search values: last name, first name, or booking date. Entering more than one helps narrow the result list when a name is common.

The inmate lookup shown above is the only public live-roster tool for the Jefferson County Detention Facility. It exposes current custody only. Use the steps below to run a clean search.
- Open the inmate lookup page.
- Type the inmate's last name. Spell it the way it appears on official ID.
- Add a first name if the last name is common.
- Add a booking date if you know roughly when the arrest happened.
- Click Search and wait for the list to load.
- Confirm identity by name and date of birth, not photo alone.
- For bond amount, read the result row.
- To verify by phone, call 303-271-5444.
Jefferson County Inmate Lookup Search Fields
The form is short on purpose. The roster is operational, not investigative. Three fields run the search.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Optional, one value required | Enter last name as it appears on ID. |
| First Name | Text | Optional, one value required | Helpful when last name is common. |
| Booking Date | Date | Optional, one value required | Use if you know roughly when the arrest happened. |
| Search | Button | n/a | Runs the live query. |
Notices the page itself displays: the tool shows only current custody; former-inmate data comes from the Sheriff's Records Unit; inmates under 18 are not searchable; data refreshes every 15 minutes; results should not be relied on for legal action without verification through fingerprint comparison.
Inmate Profile Fields
The result rows return a small set of identifying and operational data. The table maps each field to what it shows. The list is consistent with what the official lookup page exposes and with the jail bond page.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | First and last name as recorded at booking. |
| Booking Date | Date the inmate was booked into the Detention Facility. |
| Date of Birth | Available by phone search; may verify in some result rows. |
| Custody Status | Current only. Released inmates drop off. |
| Charges | Bond amounts are tied to inmate lookup per the jail bond page. |
| Bond Amount | Set by the court. Found through the inmate lookup. |
| Juvenile Status | Under-18 excluded from the public search. |
Fields the lookup does not expose include mugshot status (research did not confirm mugshot display), pod or housing classification, full release records, and sealed information. For any of those, contact the Sheriff's Records Unit.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Leadership
Sheriff Reggie Marinelli leads the agency. The official sheriff page says she was sworn in as the 28th Sheriff of Jefferson County on January 10, 2023, and is the first woman to hold the position. The page describes more than 36 years of service with the Sheriff's Office and prior supervisory roles in Patrol, Detentions, Investigations, and Support Services. Undersheriff Mike Prange handles day-to-day operations.

The Sheriff's About page details agency structure and command roles. The Detention Facility staffing includes detention deputies, medical contractor staff, behavioral health partners, and volunteers tied to programs. Sheriff Marinelli's official bio lists key priorities: employee wellness, recruitment, training, reducing recidivism, and wildfire prevention. The agency also runs Mountain Precinct at 4990 County Hwy 73 in Evergreen and South Precinct at 11139 Bradford Road, #700 in Littleton, both open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a noon to 1 p.m. closure. Self-service iPads at each precinct handle simple records lookups outside the main jail.
Booking, Bond, and Release
Bond can be posted at the Detention Facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Bond amounts are set by the court and found through the inmate lookup. Bond types listed by the jail include cash bond, surety bond, personal recognizance (PR) bond, PR bond with co-signer, and credit card bond through TouchPay. The jail lists a $10 filing fee per bond and a $30 booking fee, and also states that bond and booking fees are never required as a condition of release.
The jail page cites C.R.S. ยง 16-4-102 and says every person in custody has the right to post bond except in certain capital offenses. The Sheriff must release an inmate within six hours of bond being posted under the statute. Release processing may occur at any time, 24/7, and typically takes two to six hours after the release order is received.
At release, remaining commissary account funds are issued on a NUMI debit card. Facility-issued items must be returned. Inmates may request up to a three-day supply of prescription medication on release through an administrative kite filed at least five days before a scheduled release date. One complimentary local phone call is provided at release.
Visitation Hours
Visitation is video-based through Securus Video Connect. The Sheriff visitation page says the facility uses Securus for all inmate visits. Visitors can visit remotely from home or use on-site kiosks in the jail lobby.
| Visit Type | Hours | Length / Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Remote video | Daily 8:10 a.m.-10:30 a.m.; 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. | 30-minute sessions; unlimited remote visits |
| On-site video | Daily 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.; 1:10 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; 7:40 p.m.-8:30 p.m. | 30 min; 1-3 per week per inmate; no more than 3 visitors at a time |
| Attorney / professional | Reasonable business hours | Contact visits for active attorneys with credentials |
| Clergy | By approval | Non-contact; do not count against personal visit allotment |
Visitation rules from the jail page: visitors 18 and older need current photo ID; Jefferson County does not accept digital ID; ID must match address and state of residence; shirts and shoes required; no form-fitting, suggestive, or revealing garments; no gifts or item exchanges; no food or drinks.
Money, Mail, and Phone
Money deposits to an inmate use TouchPay with Site ID 280401. Methods include the lobby kiosk, the website at TouchPayOnline, the 1-866-232-1899 phone line, or mailing a money order or certified check to Inmate Funds, P.O. Box 16700, Golden, CO 80402-6700. Deposit fees vary by tier: $2.95 for $0-$20, $3.95 for $20.01-$100, and $4.95 for $100.01-$200.
General mail is processed through the Securus Digital Mail Center in Tampa, Florida. Original general mail is not given to inmates - it is scanned and delivered electronically. Legal mail is separate and goes to the Detention Facility's PO Box in Golden, marked Legal Mail with the attorney's name, bar number, and firm address. Phone calls go through Securus. Inmates make collect calls only and cannot receive incoming calls. Calls are limited to 15 minutes and are monitored unless protected by attorney privilege.
Programs at the Detention Facility
The jail offers a range of programs from the Detention Counselors, the Jail Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBS) team, and community partners. Programs are tied to the Sheriff's recidivism reduction priority. Participation is voluntary.

The Detention Facility programs page covers counseling, JBBS treatment, Edovo tablet education (more than 25,000 hours of programming), GED/HiSET prep, chaplain services, AA, recreation, and inmate work assignments. Detention Counselors connect inmates with sober living, community providers, and reentry resources before release.
Note: The Sheriff warns that no one from JCSO will call and ask for money for electronic monitoring or release - common scam pattern.
When to Call Instead of Searching
The inmate lookup updates every 15 minutes, but real time is faster. Call the inmate info line at 303-271-5444 in three situations. First, when you need a confirmed identity beyond the public search. Second, when bond timing matters and you want to know if a release order has been received. Third, when the person should appear but does not. Search results lag the live system in those windows.
For records of a former inmate, call the Sheriff's Records Unit at 303-271-5542 or email records@jeffco.us. For a release verification through Colorado VINE, register at VINELink. Full details on verifying release live on the released inmates page.
Property, Medications, and Release Calls
Personal property brought at booking is inventoried and stored until release. Acceptable items include prescription eyeglasses, prescription medications for medical verification and dispensing, religious items subject to review, and legal documents related to the current case. Property may be released to a designee with written inmate authorization and valid photo ID. Standard property-bag limits apply, and oversized items must be picked up, mailed at inmate expense, or disposed.
Civilian clothing for a court appearance can be dropped off during lobby hours. Inspection happens before delivery to the inmate. The lobby is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Items left without proper labeling may be refused. The jail's mail and money rules are strict because of contraband risk, so always read the current rules on the jail page before sending items.
State and Federal Inmate Searches
A Jefferson County inmate lookup only covers the county jail. People sentenced to state prison move into the Colorado Department of Corrections system. People in federal custody appear in the Federal Bureau of Prisons system. The locators below cover those layers.
- Colorado DOC inmate locator at cdoc.colorado.gov - for sentenced state prison inmates.
- BOP inmate locator at bop.gov/inmateloc - for people in federal custody.
- Colorado VINELink at vinelink.com - for victim release notifications.
- Colorado sex offender registry at apps.colorado.gov/apps/dps/sor - for community-safety lookups.
None of these databases share the Jefferson County jail roster. Each one runs on its own schedule. The Jefferson County inmate lookup updates every 15 minutes. The DOC locator updates on its own cycle. The BOP locator updates on a federal schedule. Cross-check sources when timing matters.
